Laser displacement sensors are sensors that use laser technology to make measurements. It consists of a laser, a laser detector, and a measurement circuit. The laser sensor is a new measuring instrument. It can accurately measure the change of position, displacement, etc. of the measured object.
It can measure precise geometric measurements such as displacement, thickness, vibration, distance, and diameter. Lasers have excellent characteristics of good straightness. Similarly, laser displacement sensors have higher accuracy than our known ultrasonic sensors. However, the laser generating device is relatively complicated and bulky, so the application range of the laser displacement sensor is more demanding.
Laser ranging sensor: First, the laser diode is aimed at the target to emit laser pulses. After being reflected by the target, the laser light is scattered in all directions. Part of the scattered light is returned to the sensor receiver, and after being received by the optical system, it is imaged onto the avalanche photodiode. An avalanche photodiode is an optical sensor with an internal amplification function, so it can detect extremely weak light signals. Record and process the elapsed time from the time when the light pulse is sent to when it is returned to be received, and the target distance can be determined.
The difference between the two:
Measurement range
Laser rangefinder measuring range is generally around 30 ~ 5000m. Accuracy is distinguished according to handheld and telescope type. Handheld accuracy is generally ± 1mm, and telescope type is generally ± 1m. The accuracy of laser rangefinder will change with the measurement range. .
The measurement range of the laser displacement sensor ranges from a few millimeters to several kilometers, and its measurement accuracy will decrease as the measurement distance increases.
2. Measuring principle
Laser rangefinders are generally pulsed and phased.
The principle of laser displacement sensor is divided into laser triangulation method and laser echo analysis method. Laser triangulation method is generally suitable for high-precision, short-distance measurement, and laser echo analysis method is used for long-distance measurement.
3. Application scenario
Laser rangefinders are generally used in construction, decoration, hunting, golf, viewing, forestry and other industries.
Laser displacement sensors are generally applied to the measurement of geometric quantities such as displacement, thickness, vibration, distance, and diameter of detected objects.
4. Price
The price of laser rangefinders generally ranges from a few hundred to several thousand. The price of laser displacement sensors is much larger than that of laser rangefinders, and there are hundreds of them and tens of thousands.
